Reviews, Rebuttal, Revision: Tips and Tricks for Publishing in Refereed Journals

 


 

 

Target Group

 

 

Faculty who (intend to) publish in international, refereed journals and wish to learn more about the reviewing process.

 

 

 

Workshop Aims

 

 

In this workshop, a journal editor and a linguist join forces to address key issues that arise during the review process. By the end of the module, participants should be able to:
 

  • Take a strategic approach to the peer-review process
  • Appreciate the role that language plays in the reviewing cycle – when writing reviews as well as when responding to them
  • Deploy language strategically so that their voice comes across as authoritative, persuasive and polite

  • The peer review process as both challenge and opportunity
  • Key strategies for giving constructive criticism and responding to it politely

This workshop is open to a limited number of participants. The registration deadline is 29 March 2018.
Please note that you should notify us before the registration deadline if you are unable to attend the workshop. Otherwise the full fee will be charged.

There are often waiting lists for the workshops, and this will give one of your colleagues the chance to attend.
