Target Group

 

 

This workshop caters to faculty who want to improve their English in a quick and focused manner.

 

 

 

Workshop Objectives

 


By the end of the module, participants should be able to:

 

  • Appreciate the role that language plays in the review process – when writing reviews as well as when responding to them
  • Deploy language strategically so that their voice comes across as authoritative, persuasive and polite
 

 

 

Workshop Content

 

 

  • The peer review process as both opportunity and challenge
  • Key strategies for giving constructive criticism and responding to it politely

This workshop is open to a limited number of participants. The registration deadline is 28 September 2017.

  • Frequently conducts research at British universities
  • Has published widely in international outlets
  • Acts as a reviewer for top-rated journals
  • Many years of experience in training post-docs and faculty in academic writing
  • Author of Wissenschaftliches Englisch: Stilsicher Schreiben in Studium und Wissenschaft (utb 3444; Konstanz: UVK, 2nd ed., 2016) and Discourse and Management: Critical Perspectives Through the Language Lens (Palgrave, 2016).
